To recreate the scene of crime and events, Forensic Reconstruction and Forensic Animation are reliable parameters if exercise is undertaken scientifically.

Forensic reconstruction is explicit knowledge of the series of events that surround the commission of a crime using:

  • Deductive & inductive reasoning,
  • Physical evidence,
  • Scientific methods &
  • Their interrelationship.

Forensic Animation is the use of full motion computer graphics to recreate an event or to explain the inner workings of a device or process. Borrowing services of animation expert using the investigation docket is desirable.

Being medico legal practitioner, offences against human body (S.299 to S.377 of Indian Penal Code – Chapter XVI) and other offences involving human subjects, is within ambit of such expert and above application/s can illuminate the scientific aspects of investigation.

It was pleasure to deliver a guest lecture on “Reconstruction & Forensic Animation” at 9th Annual Conference of South India Medico Legal Association (SIMLA) organized by Department of Forensic Medicine, JIPMER (Govt. Of India), Puducherry in September 2012.
